How to Clean Stuff Hard Floor Care - 1

“How can I stop getting streaky marks on a floor when it has just been washed?”

This is a common question that is usually reasonably easy to resolve, as it is often the method being used that is the problem.

Any one or more of the following can cause streaks on a newly washed and dried floor...

  • Mopping the floor too dry (smearing). Be sure to use enough water on the floor to allow the chemical in your solution to float the dirt off the surface so that it can then be removed with a wrung out mop.
  • Not changing the water in your bucket often enough. This results in basically shifting the dirt along the floor as the water becomes overloaded with soil. Try mixing a fresh bucket of water more often.
  • Using too much chemical in the water. Check for the correct dilution on the container label.
  • Using an unsuitable cleaning chemical for the type of floor surface or predominant soil type. Check with your supplier or
  • Poor coverage by the operator while mopping and/or the mop head needs replacing.
  • High traffic floors that have more dirt to clean off may need to be wet scrubbed as well to assist the chemical to release the soil from the floor surface.
  • Poor lighting conditions while cleaning.
"A floor that we have just re polished has poor gloss. What is the cause?"

This is another problem that usually relates to the method used
Incorrect preparation of the surface is the most common cause of poor gloss in our experience. We suggest that a proper floor polish stripper is used first to ensure a good result on vinyl or stone floors. Wood, cork and some other surfaces may need special care as strippers can cause damage.
The following can cause or contribute to poor polish gloss on any type of hard floor.

  • Poor preparation when stripping off old polish or not removing manufacturing and installation soils from new floor coverings.
  • Contamination from dirty equipment.
  • Floor polish applied too thin.
  • Insufficient number of coats applied. We suggest an absolute minimum of 3 coats but preferrably 5 for a great result.
  • Second and / or next coats applied too soon. Drying time is important for each coat.
  • Insufficient ventilation during the laying process. If there is no air movement while the polish is drying problems can occur. Electric fans can help.
  • Low air temperatures during the laying and drying process
  • Unsuitable floorcare products.
